Lance Adam Legouri discovers his magic fingers at the age of four. He climbs onto his deceased father’s piano bench, struggles with the lid, and pushes a key. The sound takes him away. His mother hires a teacher and Lance becomes consumed with playing.
Problem is, he has no social life. Until he meets Marci Wentworth and her cousin, Jacob. As an only child, Lance is soon enamored with “The Family.” There is Madi, Marci’s twin, who lived her younger years in the town asylum. Luke, Jacob’s uncle, is autistic but functional. Shy little Mandy is the family favorite. And everyone is enchanted with Lance’s psychic friend, Audrey.
The family is always there for him. They search for that naked mad woman who breaks into the castle and tries to kill Marci; stick by him when he is arrested for rape ‘cause they know it isn’t true; tolerate “Jane” who throws herself in front of his car and claims to have no memory; never leave his side when he is critically wounded by a jealous lover. Mostly though, it’s love and laughter at pool parties and family picnics.
Lance is a happy man.
And then, the mysterious Isabella shows up. She is a doctor, who becomes the family physician. She is also drop-dead gorgeous. One look, and Lance can’t help himself. Isabella agrees to date, but insists she has no interest in becoming involved. Doesn’t want him to find out about her past is why.
When the affair ends, Lance runs to his best friend for help and comfort. Marci is there with open arms—and a broken heart. She sends Lance away; insists it’s the only way he will recover.
